Beehive Day Nursery               Newsletter               November 2015

Children In Need

This fundraising day is on Friday 13th November.  We will be following a teddy bear theme and fundraising by charging £1.00 to bring a teddy bear to nursery on the Friday or on another day that week if you don't attend on Fridays.  We will have Teddy Bears' snack time and other fun activities.  We will also have our usual bake sale during this week, so please do some baking and come prepared to buy!

ANOTHER Beehive Baby!

We are pleased to share the news that Kirsty is expecting her first baby in April 2016.  Kirsty currently works full time in the Pre-school Room and hopes to work until early March.

Staff changes

Emma Cowley will be leaving Beehive in early November.  Emma has worked here at Beehive for 5½ years as a key person in the Pre-school Room and more recently as Deputy Manager.  Emma has decided to work closer to home.  We are sad to see Emma go and wish her well in her new career.

Angela will be taking on Emma's full time hours and also the role of room leader in the Pre-school Room.   We are currently recruiting for Angela's current role and will let you know as soon as we find the right person!

Mary is very aware that at some point there may be five people on maternity leave, plus the changes in the Pre-school Room and will try to manage this with as much continuity and as little disruption to the children as possible.

Christmas Dates

We close at 3.30pm on Wednesday 23rd December and open again at 8am on Tuesday 5th January 2016.

Early Years Funding for three- and four-year-olds and eligible two-year-olds ends on Friday 18th December and begins again on Tuesday 5th January.

Children's Safety

Please can we ask you not to take your child from nursery at the end of the session without telling a member of staff.  We try to talk to parents at the end of every session but this means it can be very busy at the key pick up times of 12pm and 3pm.  If you are not able to wait to speak to your child's key person, PLEASE let us know that you are leaving, even if it is just calling 'goodbye' so we know your child has left.

Can we also ask you not to answer the door when the bell rings.  A member of staff will come and open the door.  Thank you.

Winter weather

We play outside all year round, so please provide your child with a warm coat, hat and gloves in cold weather.  All children should have a pair of wellies at nursery.  We supply waterproof trousers/dungarees for all children.  We think outdoor play is really important, so please help us by providing suitable clothes.

We try very hard to stay open in snowy weather and have only closed for a full day once in 11 years!  Being able to open the nursery in bad weather depends on how many staff and children we have.  Therefore, it is REALLY important that you call and tell us if your child is not coming to nursery as it helps us to manage numbers and stay open.  Thank you.
