A big Beehive welcome to all new children and their families and to those returning after the summer.  We had a busy summer at Beehive – you can see some of the fun activities we got up to on a display just inside the front door.  Carly became a mum a couple of weeks ago, giving birth to baby Willow and Travis became a big brother when Charlene gave birth to baby Max.  So it's all been happening at Beehive...

Another Beehive Baby!

We are excited to tell you that Jade is expecting her second baby in January.  Jade will take maternity leave from Christmas or early in the new year and we'll expect her back in September 2016.

The photographer will be visiting us on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th October from 9am - 12 noon.  We have allocated a day for your child to have photos taken which is at the top of this newsletter.  Fred has been taking photos at Beehive for several years now.   He uses modern backdrops and poses and has lots of tricks to get a smile,  so gets some great shots.  As well as the usual photo packages, you can order items including mugs, key fobs, and canvases which all make good Christmas presents (sorry to mention Christmas!).  Proofs are usually with us within a few days.  There is no obligation to order or buy photos.  We always do our best to encourage, persuade and even bribe children to have their photo taken, but we can't guarantee success.  We don't have messy activities on the morning the photographer visits and can change children's clothes if you want to bring a special outfit.  Siblings can have photos taken together and separately. Please let us know if you definitely DON'T want your child to have a photograph taken.

Beehive Library

We are really pleased that lots of children are using our lending library in the hallway.   Please only borrow one book at a time and bring your book back before you borrow another one.  We have lots of books at nursery, but not an endless supply!  We would highly recommend joining the local library too, where your child can borrow a larger number of books.  It is free to join and use the library.

Term dates

Please note, there is no Early Years Funding for three- and four-year-olds and eligible two-year-olds during school holidays.

Half term is the week beginning 26th October.

The autumn term ends on Friday 18th December.

Beehive closes for Christmas at 3.30pm on Wednesday 23rd December.  We open again at 8am on Tuesday 5th January 2015.

Children's belongings and bags

All children need a full change of clothes at nursery.  Even if your child is reliably dry, we have frequent accidents with spilt drinks, water play and puddles!  Please could you check that your child has a set of clothes that fit and are suitable for the time of year.  If your child is potty training or is not yet reliable, you will need to provide a few changes of pants, trousers etc.  As far as possible, please just use the yellow and blue 'Smartsac' bags that we provide.  We have noticed that a lot of children have an empty bag on their pegs but bring a big bag from home.  Our peg space is quite limited so if you can manage with one bag it would be helpful.  We understand that if you have to bring lots of spare clothes, nappies etc. you might need an extra bag.
