Beehive Day Nursery opened in September 2004 in Bungay, Suffolk. We are a privately owned nursery which is registered and regulated by OfSTED and Early Years and Childcare at Suffolk County Council. Beehive Day Nursery provides the highest standards of care and education for our children and an invaluable service to our families. We have built an excellent local reputation resulting in most families coming to us on personal recommendation.
Beehive Day Nursery believes that children learn best in a safe, supportive and creative environment with adults who are committed to giving them the best possible experience while they are at nursery. We give all children and their families a warm welcome and provide a stimulating and inviting environment and a loving, friendly and happy atmosphere. Children learn and develop through a range of play opportunities and experiences, supported and motivated by knowledgeable and enthusiastic adults.
Beehive Day Nursery values parents and carers as children’s first and most important educators and strives to work in partnership with parents to ensure the best start for children.
Mary opened Beehive Day Nursery in September 2004, having anticipated the need for good quality childcare in Bungay following the closure of the only local daycare. Beehive spent its first seven years housed at Bungay Community Centre. The building was far from ideal but the nursery thrived and was soon at full capacity with a waiting list. In 2011, we packed up and “moved house” to our current premises in Rose Lane and have never looked back.
While our spacious accommodation and huge garden provide a backdrop to our nursery, it’s the staff team, some of whom have been part of the Beehive team since our beginnings back in 2004, who make Beehive what it is today. We share a commitment to providing the best experiences for the children in our care and a passion for helping every child to grow and develop to their full potential.
Over the years literally hundreds of children have taken part in the journey that Beehive provides. Some have come to us as young babies and spent three or four years with us, leaving as confident and sociable children ready for school life and all it brings. Others have spent a shorter time with us, but have still flourished in the stimulating, nurturing and inspiring environment we provide.
Many people comment on the positive, friendly atmosphere at Beehive Day Nursery, that certain something that you can’t quite put your finger on. If you would like to see for yourself what goes on at Beehive, and find out more about us, please email us or call us on 01986 896304
Our staff are selected very carefully, not only for their qualifications and experience but also for their love of children. We have a rigorous recruitment procedure and all staff are carefully vetted, with references checked and an Enhanced DBS check carried out for everyone employed.
Our excellent reputation has been built over the years and our staff team play a huge role in this. Some members of staff have been part of the Beehive team since the nursery opened in 2004 and the loyalty and commitment of our staff helps us to ensure continuity of care for children.
We hold regular team meetings, giving us the opportunity to share information and carry out in-house training. Our highly qualified and experienced staff act as inspiring role models for newer and less experienced members of the team and our open and friendly atmosphere ensures that everyone’s contributions and ideas are valued. We are a forward-thinking and innovative team who are always looking for ways to improve our practice and the service we provide

“Both of our boys have been coming to Beehive since they were six months old. Ben is now five and Toby is enjoying the Pre-school Room at three-and-a-half years old. I have found all the staff and especially key workers amazing as they have moved through the different rooms. The facilities are excellent both inside and outside! Beehive is a well-run, educational, supportive and fun environment and we cannot recommend Mary and her amazing team highly enough.”
“Beehive was recommended to us by a friend and what a fabulous recommendation it was. My children have attended Beehive from six months old up to heading off to school. They have been cared for, loved, and supported in all aspects of their development. All the mucky fun any tiny human could ask for! They come home well-fed and very happy, always asking to go back the next day. Beehive has become a huge part of our family life and we love it! Thank you.
“Beehive is a wonderful place. The children have an amazing time every single day with lovely staff who are absolutely fantastic. Such a nurturing environment full of creativity, learning, exploration and fun!”
