Our staff are selected very carefully, not only for their qualifications and experience but also for their love of children. We have a rigorous recruitment procedure and all staff are carefully vetted, with references checked and an Enhanced DBS check carried out for everyone employed.
Our excellent reputation has been built over the years and our staff team play a huge role in this. Some members of staff have been part of the Beehive team since the nursery opened in 2004 and the loyalty and commitment of our staff helps us to ensure continuity of care for children.
We hold regular team meetings, giving us the opportunity to share information and carry out in-house training. Our highly qualified and experienced staff act as inspiring role models for newer and less experienced members of the team and our open and friendly atmosphere ensures that everyone’s contributions and ideas are valued. We are a forward-thinking and innovative team who are always looking for ways to improve our practice and the service we provide

Qualifications
We are a highly qualified team, with the majority of staff holding a level 3 childcare qualification and several of us qualified to graduate and post-graduate level. We encourage continuous professional development and take advantage of training courses provided by Suffolk County Council and other training providers. All staff are trained in first aid, safeguarding children and food safety and this mandatory training is updated every three years.
Ratios
Ofsted set the ratios of adults to children as follows
Babies and children under two years |
1 : 3 |
Children aged two years |
! : 4 |
Children aged over three years |
1 : 8 |
We often exceed these ratios, giving us more time to spend with children and giving staff regular time to make and write up observations as well as time away from the nursery for training as described above.
